The Film Academy opens the second edition of its Residencies

The number of residents who will benefit from this initiative increases to 20, whose call will be open until May 12.

The Film Academy kicks off the second edition of its Residences that will be granted on this occasion twenty scholarships for audiovisual creators. The initiative that has the support of the Madrid City Council opens the call from this Monday, April 27.

Those interested in this program, which provides the means and aid necessary for the development of audiovisual projects, can register their stories until next May 12. As a novelty, in this second edition the number of selected residents will increase from fifteen to twenty. It also increases the monthly financial contribution that residents, who may be directors or screenwriters, will receive.

The program is aimed at individuals of legal age who present audiovisual projects of feature films or fiction or documentary series, in live action or animation. Given the nature of the two entities that promote this program, priority will be given to projects related to the city of Madrid and there will be advantages of access to the program for academics.

Projects linked to Madrid

A minimum of seven projects by filmmakers resident and registered in the city of Madrid, and up to a maximum of five exceptional projects that have special values and uniqueness to be highlighted by the selection committee, even if they do not have a direct relationship with the Spanish capital.

Registration must be done online, through the registration platform, where interested parties will have to present a synopsis, a treatment of the project, a cover letter, a letter of intent for the project and a biofilmography. The finally chosen projects will be announced before July 31 of this year.

Los twenty filmmakers selected will begin their artistic residency next September 2020 and, until June 2021, will enjoy the means and aid necessary for the development of their audiovisual projects. Once again, the Academy headquarters in Madrid will be the space in which this program will be carried out, which will offer a monthly financial contribution to the creators; support for travel expenses for those residents who live outside the community of Madrid; advice from mentors, physical work space, immersion in the activities of the Academy, Madrid Film Office and Cineteca, and permanent meetings with the industry, among other facilities. The mentors will be chosen based on the profile of the selected projects.
