These are the 20 projects that will participate in the fourth edition of the Film Academy Residencies

Residences Film Academy, the aid program for film creators developed by the institution with the support of the Madrid City Council, already has the 20 projects that will participate in its fourth edition.

After the evaluation of the 730 applications submitted, professionals from the sector constituted in an evaluation committee have chosen Guillermo de Oliveira (Death in your eyes), Alvaro Robles (sometimes silence), Ignacio Vuelta (African), Carla Valdés León (Before the road), Elena López Riera (Give me poison), Anna Marchessi (From Madrid to the ground), María Pérez Sanz (Leave Madrid), José Luis Aparicio Ferrera (the sea), Júlia de Paz (Property), Lois Patiño (The cloud of not knowing), Adan Aliaga (The reflected life), Natalia Boadas and Prats (small firewood), Alicia Moncholí Lueje (On the weekends), Diego Sabanés (Mediators), Ana I. Barbudo González (Nothing about us), Ainhoa ​​Rodríguez (Girl don't play), Claudia Barthelemy (Red and his flying saucers), Héctor Beltrán Gimeno (no quarter), Miguel López Beraza (Steam and silver) and David Martín de los Santos (Long live the righteous men).

The president of the Film Academy, Fernando Méndez-Leite has stressed that these projects “will be participants in a program that any creator would like to aspire to,” which offers them “work spaces and economic and training support” for nine months.

For its part, Miguel Angel Redondo, delegate of the area of ​​Economy, Innovation and Employment of the Madrid City Council, reiterated the local government's support for this "pool of filmmakers who are already part of Madrid's culture, whether from here or from abroad."

The program coordinator, Ines Enciso, thanked the Academy and the City Council for their renewed commitment to an initiative that is beginning to see its first fruits: The maternal, by Pilar Palomero, It will be the first film to come out of the Film Academy Residencies to premiere, after passing through the Official Section of the San Sebastián Festival.

Fifteen of the twenty chosen proposals have a special connection with the city of Madrid, of which eleven are feature-length fiction projects, five are feature-length documentaries, one is an animation feature-length film and three are fiction series. The majority of the selected residents reside in Spain, with the exception of Cubans José Luis Aparicio and Carla Valdés. Additionally, three of the creators are academics.

The 20 filmmakers They will begin their artistic residency on October 3 and, until the end of June 2023, they will enjoy the means and aid necessary for the development of their audiovisual projects. The institution's headquarters in Madrid will be the space in which this program will be carried out, which will offer a monthly financial contribution to the creators; support for travel and accommodation expenses for those residents who live outside the Community of Madrid; advice from mentors, physical work space, immersion in the Academy's activities and permanent meeting with the industry.

The projects have been selected by a commission made up of Araceli Gozalo, Martín Cuesta, Beatriz Herzog, Patricia Pérez, Víctor Aertsen, Juan Vicente Córdoba and the presidency of the Film Academy. Representatives of the City Council and the Academy and residents Javier Marco, Teresa Bellón and Sandra Romero participated in the event, which included a debate presented by journalist Andrea Bermejo and the presence of a large group of new residents.
