Ivan Aledo (Cartagena, 1951) died this weekend in Madrid at the age of 68. Pioneer in film editing with non-linear editing of Avid, during his career he gave rise to numerous jobs in film, advertising and television, working hand in hand with directors such as Luis García Berlanga, Julio Medem, Daniel Monzón and Javier Fesser.

Nominated seven times for the Goya Awards, I had two statuettes for the best assembly for Lovers of the Polar Circle y The great adventure of Mortadelo and Filemón.

Throughout his more than thirty years of professional career, Aledo developed his work mainly in fiction, but without ever leaving his special relationship, from the beginning, with the documentary genre and exploring other formats closer to video art, through his collaboration with the plastic artist Santiago Sierra. He was still active today, his last work as an editor being the film A window to the sea and the series Temperance.

Member of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain Since 1994, he was part of its Board of Directors as a member in the Assembly specialty. Since 2008 he combined his work as an editor with teaching as a professor of film editing, mainly in CHESS y THIS.
