Rolling Pages reveals the 12 works that could be adapted for film or television
On June 6 and 7, the fifth edition of Rodando Páginas, from the book to the screens, an initiative of OR y FGEE with the support of Community of Madrid, CEDAR y AGITATE.
Rotating Pages was born in 2018 with the aim of stimulate audiovisual and cinematographic creation through the adaptation of literary works. It is an annual meeting space that promotes synergies between the publishing and audiovisual industries, the promotion of new stories and their adaptation to audiovisual language and different screens. At this event for authors, editors and literary agents who are looking for new avenues of exploitation for their works, the meetings one-to-one with audiovisual production companies, televisions and platforms that demand new content and projects. In addition, training and dissemination activities are carried out for both sectors.
Among the more than 108 national works presented for this fifth edition of Rodando Páginas, a total of 12 have been selected, written by 8 male and female authors: What the tide hides by María Orduña (Destino, 2021), The ungrateful by Pedro Simón (Editorial Espasa, 2021), Conifers by Marta Carnicero Hernanz (Acantilado, 2020) The look of absence of Ana Iturgaiz (Editorial Roca, 2018), The pit of Lola Montalvo (Edhasa, 2021) The shadow club. vampire city 1 of Martin Piñol (La Galera, 2021), Redemption of Fernando Gamboa (Sum of letters, 2019), Premonition of Rosa Blasco (Maeva, 2021), Plan C of Anna Pólux (Les Editorial, 2019), Pilgrims of Joaquin Berges (Tusquets Editores, 2021), Remember me, Alice of Marta Healths (Urano Editions, 2022), Malvarina written by Susanna Isern with illustrations of Laura Proietti (Editorial Flamboyant, 2022).
The 12 national works have been selected by a committee of experts made up of Angela Armero, film and TV scriptwriter and director of the ECAM TV Screenwriting Master's Degree; Alvaro Vega, CEO and director of the audiovisual marketing and communication agency Doble Sentido; Delia García, audiovisual producer; Valentine Lorant, CEO of Artemisa Entertainment and former vice president of acquisitions HBO Spain; Andrea Guzmán, founder and project coordinator of the documentary film association DOCMA; and Lupe Pérez García, filmmaker, editor and script analyst.
International presence
For the first time, the event is open to the international presence of authors from Argentina, Colombia and Mexico con obras editadas en estos mismos países. Las obras internacionales, que pueden registrarse en la web hasta el 7 de mayo, serán evaluadas por un comité de expertos del sector audiovisual que valorará su potencial de adaptación al sector audiovisual. En las próximas semanas se hará pública la selección final de obras, cuyos autores y autoras, editores o agentes literarios las presentarán públicamente en el evento previsto para esta quinta edición.
De esta forma, “Rodando Páginas, del libro a las pantallas” quiere convertirse de aquí a tres años en punto de encuentro internacional del talento y del mercado hispanohablante. Its objective is to expand the catalog of works from other countries in the next editions and turn Madrid and Spain into a world reference for literary adaptations to screens in Spanish.
To date, thanks to the celebration of this event, they have closed ten adaptation agreements and five more are currently in the process of negotiation. These cover different formats such as television series or feature films and genres ranging from fiction to animation.
