Blackmagic - Legrow Studio - ePro League - DAZN

The producer LeGrow.Studio collaborated with DAZN and the technology team Mediapro to design a professional environment with solutions Blackmagic Design ahead of the broadcast of the ePro League of the EA Sports FC 2025 video game.

The work dynamics of the studio, which was designed to allow the realization and broadcast of this tournament during a period of 16 consecutive days, was structured around a mezclador ATEM 4 M/E Constellation HD, whose signals were processed through a matrix Blackmagic Videohub 40×40 12G. The system was controlled with a device ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel 20, and the contents were recorded through a combination of units HyperDeck Studio HD Pro y HyperDeck Studio HD Mini.

To Pierre Martin, live broadcast director and producer at LeGrow.Studio, the technical complexity of this 1,000 square meter environment was effectively managing multiple sources. In his own words: “We basically created 16 channels, eight for the player images and another eight for the additional camera angles, and all of them had to be instantly available to the director.”

Blackmagic cameras to cover every angle

"When choosing cameras, we prioritized production efficiency and system integration. We needed equipment that offered images with a quality suitable for transmission and that could be connected to our infrastructure," explains Martin, who opted for the cameras. Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 equipped with electronic viewfinders Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder and devices Blackmagic Zoom y Focus Demand. These were selected for their “reliability, simplicity of use and ease of integration” with Blackmagic Design's live production workflow.

Blackmagic - Legrow Studio - ePro League - DAZNThe tournament area was structured around a large semicircular space with eight stations for players, each equipped with integrated audiovisual systems that allowed their reactions to be captured. In order to cover the entire studio, LeGrow.Studio also used an articulated telescopic arm I recommend. This was equipped with a unit Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 and a variable focal length lens Panasonic (12-50mm). In turn, all these components were connected to a customized dual monitoring center with fiber optic connections that also supplied power in a traditional way, or through the Ethernet network (PoE+) for the intercoms, and allowed SDI signals to be distributed.

The signals were distributed to different places in the facilities using the IP protocol applying compression, which provided the ability to flexibly monitor images in different rooms. In turn, the spoken comments were managed through a digital mixing console Yamaha connected to a network Dante, which allowed the audio from the commentators' microphones to be integrated with the sound of the video game and supervision to be carried out using headphones.

"We designed and implemented this system with an eye on growth. As the tournament grows, we can increase capacity without having to restructure the main system, thanks to our approach and the modularity of Blackmagic solutions," concludes the head of LeGrow.Studio.
