Manel Arranz and Eva Vizcarra, directors of the documentary with Alaska (À Punt)

The documentary 'Who cares?', dedicated to the life and artistic legacy of Carlos Berlanga, begins filming between Valencia and Madrid with the participation of À Punt and RTVE. Produced by Sunrise Pictures, also has the support of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC).

Directed by Eva Vizcarra and Manel Arranz, the documentary feature film Who cares? proposes an approach to the figure of the composer, singer, painter and creator from Madrid through exclusive testimonies, archival images and abundant unpublished material that will allow us to delve into lesser-known aspects of his artistic and personal career.

The production will bring together some of the most relevant voices in Spanish culture linked to Berlanga, including Alaska, Nacho Canut, Mario Vaquerizo and Pedro Almodóvar, as well as collaborators and close friends such as Pablo Sycet, Mauro Canut and Rafa Cervera. The story will also incorporate the testimonies of his brothers, José Luis and Fernando Berlanga, as well as a special collaboration from Jorge Berlanga, the artist's nephew.

The film seeks to vindicate the influence of Carlos Berlanga as one of the most unique personalities of the Madrid Movida and author of some of the most emblematic songs of Spanish pop. Music will have a central role in the narrative, relying on the artist's own repertoire and an original theme composed expressly for the documentary. The song, titled I Bailo while I cry, has been created by Valencian musicians Raquel Adalid and Xema Fuertes, inspired by Berlanga's creative universe.

From an industrial point of view, the project represents a new commitment by Sunrise Pictures to long-term cultural documentaries, combining public and television financing with the recovery of audiovisual heritage. The joint participation of À Punt and RTVE also reinforces the interest of public radio and television stations in promoting documentary content linked to key figures of Spanish culture.

The premiere of Who cares? in cinemas is scheduled for 2027, with the aim of bringing new generations closer to the work and personality of a creator whose influence is still present in contemporary music and popular culture.
