AMC Networks International Iberia renews its confidence in TSA

The new contract contemplates that the Telefónica subsidiary will be responsible for updating the headend, created for the coding and multiplexing of 14 television channels.

AMC Networks International Iberia, the largest independent producer of thematic channels for Spain and Portugal, including Canal Cocina, Historia, and Canal Hollywood, has renewed its satellite distribution service with Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA).

The new contract contemplates that the subsidiary of the Telefónica group specialized in audiovisual solutions will be in charge of updating the headend, formed for the coding and multiplexing of 14 television channels of AMC Networks International Iberia, assuming operation, supervision and comprehensive maintenance services, in addition to supplying technical equipment and facilitating the conditional access system.

Likewise, TSA will provide the Iberian subsidiary of the American multinational with uplink service through an earth station and signal transport via fiber optic circuit from the AMC Networks International Iberia headquarter in Barcelona, ​​point of origin, to its destination at the Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales facilities in Madrid's Image City.

A notable aspect is the optimization and appreciable reduction in space segment consumption provided by TSA on the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite, set at 22 MHz, as a consequence of having adopted the DVB-S2 transmission standard.

The signing of this commitment represents another link in the long professional relationship that has united both companies for ten years; Now adding, in addition to the Portuguese channel Odiseeia in HD, the award of the transport service of the thematic channels Canal Cocina and Canal Decasa in 4K HEVC technology, an agreement that succeeds the one signed between both entities last October for the transport and coding of the television channel Odisea in 4K HEVC technology.
