Euromedia migrates two of its mobile units to 4K UHD

With the update of its mobile phones, equipped with Grass Valley production switchers, Euromedia will respond to the needs in Ultra High Definition, while being able to continue using them in HD / 3G when necessary.

Increased interest in 4K UHD coverage has led French audiovisual services company Euromedia to migrate its OB A21 and B40 mobile units to Ultra High Definition, expanding the capabilities of its Kayenne K-Frame Video production switchers. Grass Valley.

By upgrading the 4 M/E Kayenne K-Frame panels in the two units from their Compact K-Frames with 80 HD / 3G inputs and 48 HD / 3G outputs to Standard K-Frames with 180 HD / 3G inputs and 84 HD / 3G with 40 4K UHD inputs and 20 4K UHD outputs in four-quadrant mode, Euromedia will respond to the needs of its productions in Ultra High Definition, while being able to continue using them in HD / 3G when necessary.

Gaël Tanguy, technical director at Euromedia, explains that "it's one thing to achieve a unique 4K UHD production, but it's another story when the pace increases to one game per week. In order to ensure a successful debut, we combined the forces of the Euromedia production team with Grass Valley's Kayenne K-Frame switcher on our OB A21 and B40 units."

Designed to support a variety of sports or entertainment productions, the two trucks have already traveled to several events testing their 4K capabilities in both the A21 and B40 units with several productions for the French channel Canal+.

Kayenne offers full multi-format support, including 3G and 4K UHD, as well as up to 192 inputs, 96 outputs and up to 9 M/Es with six keyers on each full M/E for HD/3G and up to 48 inputs, 24 outputs and up to 4 M/Es with three keyers on each full M/E for 4K UHD. Additionally, Kayenne K-Frame mixers are now available with IP I/O in SMPTE 2022-6 connectivity environments.
