Sergio Oslé replaces Luis Blasco as head of Telefónica's video division
Until now, a partner of the consulting firm McKinsey in the area of telecommunications and media, he will be in charge of supervising the multinational's video division throughout the world.
José María Álvarez-Pallete has revealed one of the appointments that was still pending in the renewal of Telefónica's management team under his presidency. Sergio Oslé, until now a partner at the consulting firm McKinsey in the area of telecommunications and media, will be in charge of replacing Luis Blasco at the head of the multinational's video division worldwide.
A Telecommunications Engineer from the University of the Basque Country and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Oslé has advised prominent fixed-line, mobile and television operators in various markets from his position at the consulting firm to which he had been linked since 2000. His most recent projects include his involvement in the comprehensive transformation of a large Asian operator, as well as his support for several European integrated operators to define their next-generation network architecture.
El área audiovisual se ha convertido en uno de los pilares del crecimiento de Telefónica en los últimos tiempos, de la mano de la expansión en ámbitos como la televisión de pago y la producción de contenidos. Así, en el ámbito de la televisión de pago, la operadora cuenta en España con más de 3,6 millones de clientes tras sumar cerca de 51.000 en el segundo trimestre. En cuanto a producción de contenidos, prevé invertir cerca de 70 millones en el desarrollo de catorce series entre este año y el próximo.
