RTVE makes Spain's first TV connection in 5G within the framework of EuCNC 2019 and 7th Global 5G Event

The broadcast, a pioneer in Spain, has been carried out from Valencia within the EUCnc 2019 event with the participation of the territorial centers of Castilla La Mancha and Valencia.

RTVE has participated this Wednesday in EuCNC 2019 and 7th Global 5G Event With the performance of a live television connection testing 5G. From Varia and thanks the new late generation networks, Spanish Television carried out a live connection for the territorial news of the 2 in the afternoon of Castilla La Mancha and the Valencian Community.

For the issuance a HD camera connected directly to an access point, which is connected to a 5G NR Station installed in the vicinity of the Valencia Congress Palace, in which this important European technological event takes place, which in turn is connected to the 5G Standalone Network of Orange in Vara de Quart.

The content was retransmitted online through protocolo de streaming RTMP, from Vara de Quart to the territorial centers of RTVE Castilla La Mancha in Toledo and Community Valencian, in Paterna.

It has also been the first in the world with a network 5G native/pure (In English it is called Stand-Alone SA). All the tests that have been done so far have been carried out with the first version of the standard, known as Non-Stand Alone NSA that requires a 4G network for control and signaling information.

The first 5G commercial networks deployed in the world use the NSA version, since today there are no commercial products of the SA version and there are only prototypes.

Although with the 5G NSA networks you can see a remarkable increase in the capacity/through of the system, it will be the 5G SA networks that allow to offer the entire potential of 5G, for example in terms of very low latency and very high reliability of the transmissions (including signaling and control information).

The test carried out by RTVE, has been carried out in collaboration with the Valencia Polytechnic University, Fennel, Watchity, Cellnex, Orange and ZTE. In addition, this experience has also had the collaboration of Europhone.

Both broadcasts have been seen on TV and Videowalls installed in the Congresses Palace. The emission of RTVE Community Valencian, has been collected through DTT points deployed by the Palace. The emission of RTVE Castilla La Mancha was received through a parabolic antenna connected to TDT SAT receptors, capable of collecting the encrypted content transported in the satellite Hispasat 30º W.

EuCNC 2019

EUCnc 2019 is the 28th edition of a successful series of conferences in the field of telecommunications, sponsored by IEEE Communications Society and the European Association for Signal Processing, and supported by the European Commission. EUCCC has become one of the prominent conferences in communications in Europe, presenting pioneering research with industries in the world renowned sector.

It attracts more than 600 delegates every year, with a space for exhibitions of more than 1,500 m². The conference focuses on several aspects of 5G communications networks and systems, including virtualized and cloud solutions, management technologies, and areas of vertical application. The main objective is to allow researchers throughout the world to present the results of the latest investigations, being one of the main events to demonstrate the results developed within the framework of different research projects, especially those associated with the successful R&D program co -financed by the European Commission. This year, EUCnc 2019 develops with the 7th Global 5g Event, bringing different 5G associations throughout the world: 5G-IA, IMT-2020, 5G-Forum, 5G-MF, 5G-Brasil and 5G-America.
