AVC-Systems bets on Leader's LV5600 waveform monitor
The LV5600 from Leader has been the multi-screen waveform monitor chosen by the Swiss integrator AVC-Systems AG to demonstrate the benefits of IP technology in production settings.
Located at the company's headquarters in Einsiedeln, the equipment will be used to explain the operational and technical advantages of IP connectivity to Swiss television and radio channel operators, content producers, broadcast system integrators and telecommunications service providers.
"He LV5600 “It is ideal as a demonstration reference, as it incorporates all the necessary tools to perform reliable and repeatable signal measurements from initial production to broadcast,” says the general director of AVC-Systems, Raphael Kaelin. “Designed for use in studio control rooms, mobile units, post-production suites and playout centers, it allows multiple sources to be compared side by side on the internal display or viewed on a larger screen via raster output.”
"As a true hybrid instrument, the LV5600 also allows you to closely examine SDI and IP signal flows by studying details such as relative timing. Operation is very simple thanks to the logical menu structure, which is perfectly suited to both a demonstration environment and a routine operational workflow. Particularly useful is the ability to configure the display exactly as required for specific demonstration tasks and to export measurement data for later reference," he adds.
Compact and UHD ready
Kaelin describes the LV5600 as a very compact unit, which has undoubted advantages: "The entire demo system is portable enough to be easily transported if necessary for a client presentation. The main message we intend to convey with these demonstrations is that the IP workflow is very robust as long as users understand issues such as latency, which of course is also a factor in SDI."
"We also like to highlight that shooting in 4K with high dynamic range and wide color gamut offers results that are well above the standard high definition dynamic range, whether using SDI or IP connectivity or a combination of both. Getting this improved quality to the audience requires a good understanding of the actual process. Leader equipment, in particular the LV5600, provides that understanding in an accurate, efficient and repeatable way," concludes Kaeln.
“The model chosen by Raphael and his colleagues is equipped with the option LV5600-SER06/LV7600-SER06“adds the business development director the Leader in Europe, Kevin Salvidge. "This is a 25GbE single-mode IP video-over-IP/multimode fiber interface. The combination provides full compliance with the SMPTE ST 2110 standards set for transmitting uncompressed full 4K over Ethernet at up to 25 gigabits per second."
The LV5600 from Leader is a network-powered SDI/IP waveform monitor that arrives in the form of a portable half-rack unit with a front touch screen. It offers all the necessary facilities to monitor UHD/HD/SD SDI and video over IP signals in a hybrid operating environment. Features include test pattern generation, eye pattern display, subtitle monitoring, CIE color chart, high dynamic range measurement, focus assist, adjustable screen layout, tally interface, 4K/UHD operation, 10G IP input and 12G-SDI interfaces. It is compatible with the SMPTE 2022-6, SMPTE 2022-7 and SMPTE 2110 protocols. The LV5600 also incorporates the solutions Cinezone y Cinelite the Leader.
