Filming begins on 'Lily's Ritual', a film by Manu Herrera

The producer The Room Films was founded by director Manu Herrera to give life to his second feature film: 'El ritual de Lily', a feature film about witchcraft with marked nineties influences that is already being filmed in Madrid.

With a script by Manu Herrera and Javier Fernández Moratalla, Lily's ritual recover the spirit of horror movies from the 80s and 90s starring Maggie Garcia (The Protected: DNA), Patricia Penalver (Polyamory for Beginners, The End of the Road), Eve Ryan (My fault, Revenge is mine) y Elena Gallardo (Paradise, The Town). In Herrera's words, the film aims to “restore the depth and intensity that characterized the genre" by combining a powerful visual style with a "rich and complex" narrative. "This project not only pays tribute to the horror genre, but also redefined for the modern audience"says the director, screenwriter and producer, who has recently created the production company The Room Films.

With a degree in design and training in post-production and film direction, Herrera has worked in various renowned production companies such as Telson, Globomedia, Boomerang TV, or Signo Producciones. His first feature film, Hunger, an independent horror film project, has been widely awarded in the circuit of the main genre festivals around the world, receiving more than 50 awards for both the best horror film, as well as the best direction, photography or OST, among others. Currently, he is the director of the post-production company The Room VFX, where he works as creative director and VFX designer in numerous television series and programs.

This is the synopsis of Lily's ritual: "Autumn Equinox, end of the 20th Century. Four friends travel to an isolated house in the middle of the forest to perform an initiation ritual into witchcraft and thus complete the circle of the four elements. Lily, a pale and introverted twenty-something girl who has recently arrived in the group, has been chosen to represent the element of air. But what begins as a white witchcraft ritual in harmony with nature will soon become a diabolical nightmare. Lily does not imagine that the true purpose is another and that really the sacrifice is herself.”
