The 38th edition of the European Film Awards recognizes the impeccable execution of 'Sirât', by Oliver Laxe, with the five technical awards. For its part, Joachim Trie's moving Norwegian film, ‘Sentimental Value’, achieves six statuettes (film, direction, actor, actress, script and soundtrack).

Sirât This has been achieved with five of the nine awards for which it was nominated, all of them technical: casting (Nadia Acimi, Luís Bértolo, and María Rodrigo); photography (Mauro Herce); mounting (Cristobal Fernández); production design (Laia Ateca) and sound (Laia Casanovas, Amanda Villavieja and Yasmina Praderas). It should be noted that for the first time the European Film Academy awarded technical categories during the annual ceremony.

EFA Awards 2026As for the rest of the nominated Spanish films, they have not won an award. This is the case of the documentary Lonely afternoons, of Albert Serra, in which the Croatian has prevailed Fire or Death!, and the animated film Olivia and the invisible earthquake, by Irene Iborra, who has finally won the French Arco.

For its part, Sound of Falling won the award for best costumes (Sabrina Kramer), while Bugonia, by Yorgos Lanthimos, despite the raised expectations, had to settle for the award for best makeup and hairdressing (Torsten Witte). The other surprise of the award ceremony, which took place this weekend in Berlin, was It Was Just An Accident, by Jafar Panahi, who went home empty-handed.
