Cinemas Procinal de Colombia opts for Christie Solaria projectors

The new complex in Medellín has nine rooms, one of which, equipped with a Christie CP4230, has the first Dolby Atmos immersive sound system in the country.

The new multiplex of Cinemas Procinal de Colombia located in the Mayorca Shopping Center in the city of Medellín has adopted the DLP Cinema series projectors Christie Solaria. The complex has nine rooms, one of which, equipped with a Christie CP4230, has the first immersive sound system Dolby Country atmosphere.

La instalación fue realizada por CE+S (Cinema Equipment & Supplies). Cinemas Procinal tiene en la actualidad 26 multiplex en Colombia con 134 salas y una capacidad total de 20.440 butacas, siendo el mayor exhibidor de Medellín. En 2015, la compañía tuvo 2.400.000 espectadores y espera llegar a los tres millones en 2016.

The star room of this new complex is named Supernova. It is a PLF (Premium Large Format) room that has the first Dolby Atmos in Colombia and a silver screen measuring 8.90 meters high by 15.80 meters wide (almost 150 square meters). To illuminate such a screen, a Christie CP4230 projector with 4K resolution and 34,000 lumens of brightness is used, powered by a Doremi IMS1000 server. The room has capacity for 300 people and is prepared for 3D with the RealD system.

The rest of the rooms in the new complex cover a variety of formats, such as the Cine Arte Room, which shows independent cinema, the Black Star VIP Room, which offers comfortable reclining seats, or the 4DX Room, which incorporates various innovations such as movement and vibration of the seats, lightning effects, smells, smoke...

This is by no means Cinemas Procinal's first experience with Christie equipment. In fact, the company has 50% of its screens with brand projectors.

Juan Carlos Mayungo, administrative and financial director of Cinemas Procinal, assures that "Christie projectors offer us great performance, quality and luminosity, as well as simple and friendly operation for projectionists. In addition, Christie has shown good support in after-sales support, and the fact that they set up an office in Colombia brings us closer to the brand."

So much so that Cinemas Procinal has just purchased five new Christie Solaria Series projectors for its new multiplex in the Aventura Shopping Center in Medellín that will open in July 2016. The company is also considering acquiring the innovative Christie Vive Audio™ cinematographic sound solution for the Viva La Ceja shopping center (department of Antioquia) that is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2016.
