The documentary feature film about the paintings of the Sigena Monastery (Huesca) will allow to know the original aspect of your Capitular room, known as the European Romanesque Sistine Chapel. It is directed by Jesús Garcés Lambert (2018 Golden Globe Award for Caravaggio, the soul and the blood).
Sigena, the magic of a dream It tells the reconstruction project that has promoted Juan Naya, neighbor of Villanueva de Sigena and Astrophysical of NASA, of the Romanesque paintings of the monastery. The vast majority were lost or were damaged irreversibly during a fire in the civil war.
Juan's childhood memories playing in the ruins of the monastery, along with the conversations in which his grandparents told him how the roofs and walls looked before the fire, forged their desire to rebuild the paintings.
This trip begins with the only aid of black and white photos, made a few months before the start of the civil war. But how to find more information about the colors, roofs and other details of the room founded by Sancha de Castilla?
To solve this great puzzle has the help of Daniel Gonzalez, illustrator; Paco Martos, passionate artisan in Mudejar art, or Albert Burzon, Romanesque expert digital artist, together with national and international experts from institutions such as the British Library, Winchester's cathedral, the palatal chapel or the Met Cloisters. A reconstruction that is evolving as they are solved unknown while others appear.
Sigena, the magic of a dream is a production of Benecé and Dreamdigital Creative Works, with participation of RTVE and the support of Ica.
