Robe focuses on the Slovenian preselection for Eurovision

Blackout implemented nearly 400 lighting solutions, including an important selection of equipment Robe, in studio 1 of Slovenian public television Radiotelevision Slovenia for the preselection of Eurovision 2025, a contest that will be held in Switzerland next May.

The lighting design of Blackout It was developed in close collaboration with the set designer Greta Godnic: an elegant setting LED diagonally oriented square that was capable of changing “shape and texture.” For this project, a significant selection of Robe moving lights were used: 54 MegaPointe, 54 Spiider, 24 Pointe, 12 Fortes and 14 Tetra2, all supplied by the Slovenian rental company Event Lighting.

On top of the stage there were two trusses, one inside the other. While the outside was populated with 24 Pointe Dress to give a cage effect, the truss inner square was also equipped with beam lights to get a narrower cage. Eleven of the Fortes, partially hidden, were positioned on the floor around the stage. The rest were installed at the front of the stage and controlled by a system RoboSpot.

Los 54 MegaPointes y 54 Spiders were mounted on ladders between the gaps of the LED columns along 6 levels, creating a 18 x 6 effect light array backstage. The combination of these two types of devices allowed Blackout to produce an unlimited range of looks, scenes and effects, including backlights and artist silhouettes. Additionally, although the Tetra2s were going to be integrated into the Robe lighting wall at the back, Blackout found a more optimal position for them backstage accompanying the Fortes.

The challenge, as is often the case with big, high-profile television shows, was in the programming. Passaron 10 days of pre-vizzing a WYSIWYG, followed by 10 days of studio rehearsals before the final event, which was broadcast live.

Slovenia will be represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel (Switzerland) by Klemen Slakonja with the song “How Much Time Do We Have Left”, written by Klemen, Maja Slatinšek and Ryan Small.
