Soundub The implementation of the new multichannel audio system has just been completed Dolby Atmos in one of the rooms that the company has at its headquarters in Barcelona. It is the first mixing room of its kind in Spain and the second in Europe and has already successfully completed the mixing of two feature films, Mother by Andy Muschietti produced by Toma 78 and distributed by Universal and The body, by Oriol Paulo produced by Rodar y Rodar and distributed by Sony.

Dolby Atmos technology is the new value proposition that we want to convey to the viewer in terms of the sound experience. The multichannel exhibition format par excellence until now has been the traditional 5.1 or 5.1-Ex (Extended, or known as 6.1), also owned by Dolby, where the number of discrete channels (group of speakers to which sound can be sent) was 6.

Dolby Atmos today presents a huge change by extending the number of discrete channels to which sound can be directed beyond 64. As a result, the number of speakers in the exhibition rooms is expanded by adding two rows suspended from the ceiling in addition to expanding the number on the sides of the room, a screen and two additional units to generate subwoofers.

The perceptual result is a greater immersion of the viewer in the sound environment of the film..."now the shots whistle above our heads while the wind sways the tops of the trees and the thunder of the storm shakes our seats; conceptually the sound system of the films changes in the way the sound elements are presented, what were traditionally two-dimensional panning are now treated as three-dimensional objects, adding a new degree of freedom to the creative equation of the films."

Soundub will soon organize an open house to show the creative potential of this new technology.
